Silver Jubilee in Pelsall 1977

Back in 1977, Myra Moore of Norbury Avenue, Pelsall thought it would be a good idea to organise a street party for the children of Norbury Avenue, Peolsford Road and St Margaret's Road, to celebrate the Queen's Silver Jubilee and so set to work organising the event.

Myra is seen above wearing her jubilee rosette and her husband Reg and their son's Carl and Gary can be seen in the photograph next to her.

The children of Norbury Avenue, Peolsford Road and St Margaret's Road can be seen in the photographs above and below.

You may spot yourself in one of these photographs which were very kindly loaned to me by Mrs Moore.

Even the Wombles came along to join in as the children made their way to the party.

The photographs above and below show the celebrations which were held in the upstairs room of the old Co op building on Pelsall High Street.

Following a fun yet exhausting day, residents were keen to express their thanks to Mrs Moore for organising this very special day.

Their token of thanks presented to Mrs Moore can be seen below.

If you were there on the day and you would like to share your memories, why not drop me a line?
